Bready pace bowler Craig Young along with fellow North West men William Porterfield, Andrew McBrine, Graeme McCarter and Stuart Thompson will be stepping up their preparation for next month’s T20 World Cup.

The five some are currently in the Caribbean, where Ireland lost their opening two games to Guyana and Jamaica, as they aim to get into Phil Simmons’ squad to the World Cup in Bangladesh.

Although Porterfield will skipper the side, McBrine, Thompson, McCarter and Young will all be looking to force their way into the squad.

For Young, who just like McCarter is back from a successful spell in Australia, admits he isn’t looking that far ahead but admits these are exciting times to be involved in the Irish set-up.

“Cricket Ireland and cricket in the country and the North West in general is going in the right direction,” he stated.

“For myself personally I’m just concentrating on the West Indies trip and I’m not going to be getting drawn into what might come after it.”

The 23-year-old, who like Thompson, has just received a grade A contract with Cricket Ireland and because of that he leaves County side Sussex.

“An opportunity to comeback to Ireland with an A contract was an offer I couldn’t pass up,” he added.

“Especially with the World Cup coming up in 2015 I had to give myself the best opportunity of playing cricket regularly and to be honest I don’t think I would have got that at Sussex as they have a lot of bowlers.

“There is also the chance to go back to Sussex as the door is never closed by them, both Cricket Ireland and Sussex have said that and I had a meeting recently with them and they feel it’s a great chance for me to showcase myself to them.

“I definitely want to at some stage try to get back across to the County cricket in England because the standard of cricket the professionalism is something I didn’t like maybe the first year or so but once you believe that you are good enough for it, then it’s fantastic.

“I love coaching but I wanted to fully focus on cricket and the only way I could do that was to come back and I have no problems about moving back home, in fact I’m looking forward to it.

“Now I have got a category A contract with Ireland I’ll obviously be moving home maybe to Belfast, if I play club cricket I don’t want to play for anyone else other than Bready, I still want to play for the Warriors I have no interest in playing for anyone else.”
