The Caravan Destruction Derby is always a favourite with the crowds at Aghadowey. The entries are already rolling in, and last year’s Boxing Day event saw almost twenty cars and caravans meet their maker in the big scrapyard in the sky!

The last car and caravan moving wins, and the daredevil pilots will drive through and over each other in the pursuit of glory. Carnage is a certainty, and it really does have to be seen to be believed!

Topping the race action during the day will be the Reliant Robins Irish Championship, which will see Ballymoney star Ian Bolton start on pole position courtesy of points gained during the season.

He will be keen to regain the title he lost to Portadown’s John Stewart 12 months ago, whilst Stewart will be hoping to repeat his success with back to back Irish crowns. Broughshane’s Sammy Graham, Glenarm’s Mark Abram and Bushmill’s driver Jay Jay McConaghie will be others chasing victory in the three wheeler machines, where rollovers and drama are usually the order of the day.

The non-contact Stock Rods and the super fast 2.0 Hot Rods will both be in action with crucial World Championship qualifying points on offer as the drivers chase positions on the grid for their big races in 2016.

National Champion Derek McMillan from Kells, Best in Britain Victor McAfee and Irish Champion Jonny Cardwell from Glenavy will lead the field in the Stock Rods, with the 2.0 Hot Rods entry headed by Irish Champion Stephen Emerson and Irish Open Champion Shane Murray.

Completing the line up at the meeting, sponsored by Maggie’s Garage of Ballycastle, are the entertaining Thunder Rods, with the first race blasting off the grid at 2pm.
