With the Ballymena Junior League title and the Linda Welshman Memorial Cup already in the bag, Jonty Watson’s lads went in to the final as favourites, but strikes by Davy McVicker and Tommy Elder secured a deserved 2-1 win for Glebe Rangers Reserves.

At sun-drenched Allen Park the Wee Reds had the better of exchanges in the first half, but the more experienced Ballymoney outfit dominated in the second session, during which Elder’s 68th minute winner ensured that the silverware would be heading north to Ballymoney.

McVicker opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a superb volley from twenty-five yards that flashed in to the roof of the net before Warren McAllister had time to blink.

Ricky MacAuley was lively on the right flank, and was rewarded in the 25th minute with a worthy equaliser.
