Carniny beat Clough in Ballymena & Provincial League ‘derby’

CARNINY Amateurs’ hopes of a remarkable top four finish in their debut season in the Ballymena and Provincial Intermediate League remain on course.

Anthony McCartney’s side have coped admirably with the step up to intermediate football and on Saturday they secured some local bragging rights with a 3-1 win over Clough Rangers Athletic at the Showgrounds.

Raceview’s push for the Michelin Athletic Club-sponsored league championship was on hold for a week – instead they beat Desertmartin 5-2 in the O’Gorman Cup – but they lost second spot in the table to Brantwood.

See this week’s Ballymena Times for more pictures from the Carviny Amateurs v Clough game, along with reports and fixtures for the rest of the locally-based teams.
