FOOTBALL: Rathcoole match abandoned after 63 minutes

Rathcoole’s league clash with Sofia Farmer was brought to halt after 63 minutes on Saturday afternoon.

The Diamond outfit were 5-1 up in the Ballymena and Provincial League’s Intermediate match before referee Kenny Hayton called time on proceedings due to what the league’s match summary report described as a ‘brawl between a number of players in each team’.

Rathcoole went in front after Aaron McCarey scored in the first minute, then added three more goals scored by Darren Cosbie, Aaron McCarey and Brian Black in the fourth, 20th and 28th minutes.

Sofia pulled one back through Ivandro Santos, reducing the deficit to three at half-time.

Nathan Stranaghan scored a fifth for Rathcoole in the 53rd minute but 10 minutes later the game was stopped.
