Glebe prepare to tackle slick City

GLEBE Rangers boss Peter Cairns is preparing his side for one of their toughest assignments of the season when they entertain leaders Armagh City but he roared: “We don’t really fear anybody in this league if we get our own performance right on the day but we will have to be on our game for 90 minutes.”

Glebe take on Armagh at the Riada Stadium this Saturday (3pm) fresh from a battling 1-1 draw away to Ballyclare Comrades at the weekend.

Cairns’ assessment of his trip to Dixon Park was that it was a really good point in the end although his side had taken the lead in the 35th minute through Peter Kennoway with a touch in after good approach play by Tommy Elder.

Glebe started well in the second half and created the game’s two best chances but Alan Sheppard missed from point blank range when he attempted to lift the ball over the ‘keeper and in another incident James McLaughlin was unable to plant the ball in the exposed net when it ran free to him.

That gave the home side a lift and they equalised with a header over the Glebe ‘keeper.

Cairns added: “We were dangerous on the counter-attack and could have nicked it in the end.”

Turning to Armagh, the Rangers’ boss said: “This is another tough game for us. They are on a good run.”

* There were no winners this week in the Glebe lottery. The numbers were 2,5,8. Next week the prize is £975.
