New leaders toface old rivals

THE weather decimated the Premier Division last Saturday with only one of the scheduled five games taking place. In that game Newbuildings United Reserves moved to the top of the table after defeating City Colts although they have played more games than the chasing pack.

With just three weeks to go before the annual Christmas break sides will want to finish the year off on a winning note.

Newbuildings United Reserves v BBOB

Who would have thought that at the beginning of the season Don Olphert’s Old Boys would be bottom of the table? But that is exactly what has happened, they are low in confidence and it is a tough job for the manager.

Newbuildings after their win last week have moved to the top of the table and it is thoroughly deserved, their confidence is high and they will fancy their chances of collecting the three points.

Prediction: Newbuildings United Reserves.

Dungiven Reserves v Drummond

When these two met earlier in the season the Dungiven men had a comfortable 3-0 victory, since then the home side have continued to improve and sit in the top half of the table.

Chris Moore’s side have continued to struggle, and he hasn’t been helped by not being able to field a full strength side in most games, they may lose again.

Prediction: Dungiven Reserves

Greysteel v Lincoln Courts

Since Wayne Glenn returned as manager things have never looked back for the Courts, he has assembled a very strong side and he also has good back up players, however he knows that they must continue winning if they are going to be in the hunt for silverware.

Greysteel lost the corresponding game earlier in the season so they will be out to get something this time round easier said than done.

Prediction: Lincoln Courts.

Sion v City Colts

The Tyrone sides only victory this season came against their opponents and it was fairly emphatic however like their opponents they have managed just six points and a win for either side would leave the losers in big trouble.

Prediction: Sion.

Roe Rovers v Burndennett

Rovers are still playing catch up and they will certainly be frustrated with not getting playing, it is always difficult to keep players motivated when they are not playing regularly.

The visitors lost 6-1 in the corresponding fixture so away from home this looks a difficult assignment.

Prediction: Roe Rovers.
