Parkie back for Larne test

INSTITUTE assistant manager Paul Carlyle is hoping they can now go on a winning run, with Larne visiting Drumahoe this Friday (KO 8pm).

The Waterside out-fit have now won their last two games against Limavady United and Moyola Park and Carlyle wants that run to continue.

“We had the break last Saturday but now that we are back playing this Friday we’ll want to keep things on track,” admitted Carlyle.

“We want to keep a run going in the league, get as many points as we can, because winning matches breeds confidence and that’s exactly what we want.”

The Inver Park men are still looking for their first league success and are six points behind ’Stute going into Friday nights clash, however Carlyle isn’t taking anything for granted.

On the team front Stephen Parkhouse, who scored on his return to first team action last week in the North West Senior Cup semi-final success over Moyola, is likely to be challenging for a place in the starting line-up.

“We have had Ian McFaul doing a bit of work for us this year and he went and watched Larne recently, so we have match report on them, so we know what to expect.

“With us not playing at the weekend it meant that Paddy (McLaughlin) will have more time to get his ankle problem sorted out. He’s OK but he’s still a wee bit wary of it.

“Parkie will have got another week’s training under his belt, he’s not that far away, his movement, hold up play and strength was very good against Moyola and that will get better, the more game time he gets.

“Although we aren’t scoring as many goals as I would like, we are creating the chances and I thought we had addressed that problem, because we have signed enough attacking minded players.

“I’m confident that the likes of Ricky Lee (Dougherty) will do well and with Parkie coming back that will give everyone a boost.”

Carlyle is also hoping that with the game taking place on Friday evening, there will be a good crowd at the Riverside Stadium and he knows if that is the case then a good result and performance will mean they will come back.

“You would like to think we’ll get a bit of a crowd and anyone who comes out will see us trying to play good football.

“At the end of the day spectators and supporters want to be entertained.

“There is a lot of good boys in the dressing room who know there is a lot guys behind the scenes who are doing a lot of good work and the more people out the better, financially the club is getting it tight, like every club, so hopefully we get a good crowd and they will come back in the future.”
