Gearing up for the Madigan Cycles Grand Prix

The Madigan Cycles Grand Prix sets off from Kilroot on Saturday starting at 11am and finishing at around 1.15pm in Kilroot.

The 18-mile Kilroot circuit that takes in Whitehead, Glynn, Gleno, Beltoy, provides a stiff challenge to riders from all over the Province. There are three major climbs in the route; the Bla Hole, Lizard and Seven Sisters.

The main ‘A’ race is 55 miles (three laps for A+, A1, A2, A3 riders). There will be cash prizes for the first six over the line, plus first unplaced in each category.

The two-lap ‘B’ Race for A4 category is 36 miles, with the first six riders over the line taking cash prizes.

The ladies race is also two laps stretching over 36 miles. The first three over the line win cash prizes.

The two-lap 23-mile Masters’ category is for riders over 50 with cash prizes for the first three home.

Sign-on is from 9.15am to 10.45am in Eden Community Centre, Beltoy Road, Kilroot.

The event, organised by Team Madigan Cycling Club, is sponsored by Mr Ronnie McKeegan of Madigan Cycles / Madigan Pro Bike Centre and Carrickfergus Borough Council.
