Ardis wins back nine sweep at Galgorm Castle

In Division 1 of the Back 9 Sweep at Galgorm Castle Golf Club, after the Maple Paul Sittlington (5) was leading Raymond Ardis (5), Jonathan McNeill (1) and Adrian McCart (5) by one point.

A further point behind came Philip Galloway (6) and George Watt (5) followed by Barry Agnew (4) another point down.

Through 16, Ardis had moved into the lead but he was being closely followed by McNeill, Galloway, McCart, Watt and Sittlington one point behind with Agnew another point away. Ardis finished with two pars and held on to his narrow one point lead to win.

Agnew came with a late birdie, par to join McNeill (par, birdie) and with a better last six Agnew took second place. McNeill won the Gross while Galloway (bogey, par), McCart (bogey, par), Watt (bogey, par) and Sittlington (bogey, par) all finished together and third place went to Galloway with a better last six.

After the Maple in Division 2 three players were vying for the lead – David Millar (7), Garry Robinson (6) and Eoghan Daly (8).

Hard on their heels a point down came William Crawford (8), Alan Knox (7) and Terence Martin (7) with Noel McAlynn (8) a further point behind.

With two holes left to play Daly had taken a one point lead over Millar. Robinson, Knox and Martin were another point behind with McAlynn and Crawford at one and two points respectively further behind. Millar finished with two pars to win by one point from Daly (double bogey, bogey) and strong finishing McAlynn (two pars) who finished together and with a better last six McAlynn finished second with Daly third.

Colin Brown (10) had a commanding three point advantage from David Cameron (13) through 14 in Division 3. Another point behind came Andrew McFarlane (14) and William Kennedy (9). The only change after 16 was that Kennedy had lost another point on the leader.

In a hollow win, Brown double bogeyed the 17th and parred the last to finish three points ahead of McFarlane (bogey, double bogey) in second. Cameron (bogey, ‘ding’) and Kennedy (bogey, par) finished together and with a better last six Kennedy took the remaining place.

Twos were recorded by: R Ardis, G Henry and J McNeill.

FRONT NINE SWEEP

Through four Austin McGillian (10) and Gerard Lynn (8) were tying for the lead one point ahead of John McClintock (7) who ‘dinged’ the first.

McGillian saw his lead disappear after a double bogey on Broadmeadows which left him one point behind Lynn and McClintock.

However a birdie at the next and McGillian had regained his one point advantage with two to play.

All three players finished with par, bogey leaving McGillian the winner by one point from McClintock (BL6) in second.
