Lisburn Ulster Fourball Team reach Final.

On Sunday, Lisburn Ulster Fourball team travelled to Rockmount for the second leg of their semi-final tie.

The strong Rockmount pair of Billy Wilson & Kevin Cushnahan covered the first 13 holes in two over par dispatching Barry McQuillan and Bob Patterson by 6&5. The leading match was a much closer encounter going all the way to the 18th green where the Rockmount pair put another point on the board, reducing Lisburn’s lead to 4-3 with three matches still on the course.

Thankfully for Lisburn, Des Kerr and Eddie Rowan never looked like losing and won 5-4 thus leaving Lisburn needing at least a half match to win the tie. Phil Stewart and Alan Gilmore began to dominate in the homeward nine and a par 5 from Phil at the long 15th hole put them dormie 3 up. They proceeded to win the 16th hole to secure the tie as news filtered up from the 14th green of the Kerr/Rowan victory.

Billy Friars and Jason Smylie were 1 up playing the 17th when they were called in. Lisburn will now contest the final against Castle Hum later this month.
