Junior Cup teamsgoing strong

The exploits of Lurgan’s Junior Cup team was the big team news item in the past week or two.

They played their qualifying round at Killymoon GC and had an excellent team return of 306. The other qualifiers for the matchplay were Strabane (299), Killymoon (302) and Newtownstewart (309). The quintet of ‘young guns’ were Peter Cummins, Andrew Cummins, Nathan and Jason McCann and Conall Coleman.

The next outing is against Killymoon at Loughgall. This tie has to be played by Monday 24th June. The Fred Daly team also deserve huge praise. They are through to the next round of their competition with a comprehensive win over Mannan Castle. They won 5/2 at home and 6/1 away. Their next opponents are Castle Hume or Kilkeel.

The ladies teams have also been performing extremely well in recent matches. The Ladies Senior Foursomes, the Ladies Junior Foursomes and the Ladies Intermediate Cup team all notched significant wins over Massereene, The Spa and Rockmount golf clubs in recent games.
