While City of Derry’s professional Sammy Smallwoods recorded his first ever ace when he holed his tee shot at the Quarry, Prehen’s 15th hole whilst playing against his fellow professional Noel Callan last Wednesday.

He used his trusty pitching wedge and watched enthralled as the ball hit the back of the green and spun back into the hole. Congratulations Sam and you forgot to say how the match went.

Incidentally Noel Callan who operates mostly as a teaching pro had the pleasure of playing nine holes at Castlerock on the Monday after the recent Irish Open with Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell.

This week the Pearson Foods Open Stableford takes place on Saturday and it has a special section for Lady Golfers who will be made most welcome. Bookings for visitors by phone (028) 71311496 or online at www.cityofderrygolfclub.com.
