Sylvia scores 39 points to hold off the competition as she wins the Sam McBratney Ladies Open Greensomes

Despite damp conditions, over 70 lady golfers took to the fairways at Lisburn Golf Club last Monday to compete in the Sam McBratney Ladies Open Greensomes.

The competition was sponsored by local author, Sam McBratney, who is best known for his best-selling children’s bedtime story ‘Guess How Much I Love You’.

A wonderful selection of Sam’s books was on display in the clubhouse throughout the day and the author was on hand to present his prizes to the lucky winners.

In addition to gift vouchers, each prize-winner also received an autographed copy of his book.

The competition was won by Lisburn golfers Sylvia Carr and Joy Hall with 39 points and second place went to Maeve Markey and Mary Parker, also from Lisburn, with 38 points.

In third spot were Marie Canavan and Gail Linter from Belvoir with 37 pts while Bernie McDonald and Linda Symington’s took fourth place with 36 points.

In her welcoming remarks, Lisburn Lady Captain, Margaret Boyd, congratulated all the prize-winners.

She also thanked Mr McBratney for his continued and his very generous sponsorship of this popular competition.
