Hero Campbell to help businesses raise their game

Local Olympic rower Alan Campbell is set to join three-time Paralympic gold medallist Michael McKillop to address and inspire business leaders at an event in Belfast on 14 December.

The ‘Raise Your Game’ masterclass, which is taking place at the University of Ulster, York Street, Belfast is designed to share management and leadership lessons inspired from sport. The breakfast event will be hosted by sports broadcaster Adrian Logan and the local sports stars will be speaking at the event alongside former NI coach of the year, Paddy McKillop, father and coach to Michael.

The ‘Raise Your Game’ concept was created by management and events consultancy, Podiem, in partnership with the Ulster Business School.

Nick Read, business development manager at the Ulster Business School explained: “The Raise Your Game conference will provide an excellent opportunity for local organisations to learn new ways to enhance their management and leadership capabilities. The Ulster Business School is committed to supporting the development of local managers and I hope that by applying the skills and techniques demonstrated by these top athletes, organisations can help themselves plan for a more sustainable and successful future.”

Kevin Kelly, director at Podiem, added: “The characteristics that drive winners in business and sport are very similar and it seems only natural that the two go together. Alan Campbell and Michael McKillop performed to a world-class standard this summer and they continued the proud tradition of local sports people punching above their weight. Through the ‘Raise Your Game’ event, we want to show local managers and leaders that they can do the same in business.”

There are still some places available for the breakfast event which runs from 8.00am to 10.00am on Friday 14 December. For more information or to reserve a place, call 028 9076 1030, email [email protected] or visit www.podiem.com/RaiseYourGame.
