Ireland and Lurgan both face big games

At grassroots level Lurgan Rugby Club have an important game of their own.

The Pollock Park side, captained by Graham Currie, play host to local rivals Dromore in a Powerade Town’s Cup clash which will hold a measure to the progress the club has made over the past couple of seasons.

The 1sts are also in contention in the Gordon West Cup having made it through to the quarter finals where they will face Larne on Saturday, February 19.

After a testing season Lurgan appear to be on the road to recovery with promising young players coming through the ranks and seasoned campaigners stepping up to the mark.

Thankfully for fans of rugby in the area there won’t be a clash between the Ireland game and the Town’s Cup match at Pollock Park.

The Town’s Cup game will have an early kick off at 1pm to allow players, club members and fans to retire to the bar and watch Ireland take on Italy afterwards at 2.30pm.

The rugby club will be open to non-members and members alike for all the Six Nations games over the coming two months culminating with the showdown between Ireland and England on Saturday, March 19.
