Loughgiel hurlers shine at Liam McGarry Memorial

Loughgiel came out on top at the weekend and ran out winners of the Liam McGarry Memorial Centenary Tournament defeating neighbours Dunloy with a scoreline of 2-19 to 0-12.

This was a game that saw both Antrim teams show that the skill and ability of hurling was still alive in North Antrim. Loughgiel and Dunloy put on an exhibition that could have graced any GAA pitch and in front of a huge crowd of home support Loughgiel retained the title of Liam McGarry Cup Champions in their Centenary year.

Loughgiel Shamrocks welcomed O’Loughlin Gaels, St Rynaghs and Dunloy to compete for the cup. Dunloy faced O’Loughlin Gaels in the first Semi Final and proved to be worthy winners with a scoreline of 2-14 to 2-8. Loughgiel were to face St Rynaghs in the second semi final and battled on to win 2-14 to 1-7. Loughgiel Shamrocks GAC would like to thank anyone that made the weekend possible.

The Liam McGarry Memorial Centenary Tournament was kindly sponsored by Scullion Hurls. They provided Loughgiel Shamrocks GAC with sliothars and a commissioned hurl for each of the teams competing. VISIT

Justin McCarthy visited Loughgiel for the weekend and delivered coaching sessions for members of Loughgiel Shamrocks, Justin also delivered a question & answer session and took time out to meet old friends and meet the McGarry Family ahead of the McGarry Tournament.

CUL CAMP

Loughgiel Shamrocks GAC & other neighbouring parishes came along to Cul Camp in Loughgiel. Over 170 girls and boys spent the week in Fr Healy Park and were put through their paces from coaches from the Loughgiel club and Ulster a great week was had by all.
