COOKSTOWN

This week’s lotto numbers were 2-10-14-16. There were three match three winners who each won £35. The jackpot next week is £3800.

Fr Rocks U21s travelled to Eglish for a championship quarter Quarter Final at the weekend. The boys came away with a superb 2-10 to 0-10 victory which sets up a Semi Final clash against Edendork this weekend. Please check the club website for details of the time and venue for this game.

Primary school coaching will resume in the New Year at Holy Trinity PS for P4/5s and P6/7s.

The club AGM took place on Thursday December 6 and a very successful meeting returned the following officers. Congratulations to clubman Damien Harvey, the Retiring Tyrone PRO made it a double in Bundoran when he collected “The Communications Award” at the annual Ulster GAA Writer’s Banquet. This was his second award in two weeks. Damien stepped down from his role as County PRO last Sunday after five years in the post. His hard work and dedication took the post of PRO to a new level and Damien did a great job at representing the club at County Board level. A big well done to Damien for all his hard work in the previous five years.

The club would like to appeal to anyone who might be interested in helping with the running and administration of ladies football at the club. If you are interested please make your name know to any committee member or call up to the club on Monday evening from 6:30-7:30pm

EIRE OGS

A reminder to those who wish to participate in the hurling coaching course is to contact the club’s secertary immediately.

An EGM will be held on Monday 17th December at 9pm, upstairs in the Old Chram Inn.

Underage indoor hurling and camogie training will continue this Thursday at the same time. This will be the last training before Christmas, but it will resume again on Thursday 10th January.

It was with deep sadness that everyone in the parish and beyond received the news of the tragic deaths of Kevin Conway and Lisa O’Donnell as news filtered through on Saturday. Kevin played hurling from boyhood and indeed was a dedicated hurler, committing to the minor cause this year. While all within the Éire Óg club regret the loss of a friend and colleague on and of the playing field, we wish to convey our sincere sympathy to his parents Francie and Pauline and to his brother Shane on the death of their son and brother, and to the family of Lisa. St. John’s have are now the Ulster Minor Hurling Champions having defeated Robert Emmett’s Slaughtneil on a scoreline of 1-14 to 0-11. A huge thank you to sponsor’s Gortafad Electrics and Leadon Timber Frame as well as all those who helped to steward the event.

CASTLEDAWSON

The Youth Presentation Night took place in the Mobile on Friday night last. Thanks to all who attended and helped out on the night.

The DVD launch night which was scheduled for Saturday December 15 has been postponed. DVD’s of the Fight Night and All Ireland campaign and Gala (2007/08) can be ordered by contacting Mickey McAleer or any committee member.

A club officer training session for new club officers will take place in Holy Trinity College, Cookstown on Saturday 19th January 2013 from 10am-1pm. The course is to develop the skills and knowledge base of all club officers. The course is free with a complimentary lunch provided. To register contact [email protected].

Ulster Minor Championship semi final is fixed for boxing day against the Derry champions Glen.

Gaelic start for Boys and Girls P1-P3 finishes in St Patrick’s Primary School on Wednesday 12th and will take place as usual from 7-8pm. Each child should bring their own water bottle and parents must be in attendance.

Indoor training continues in the football pavilion for all U13/ U14 players and any U16 players not currently involved with the minor squad on Monday nights @ 7pm. Each player should bring their own water bottle.

The youth group meets in the Parish Centre on Tuesdays at 6:30pm. All children aged 12 up welcome.

The club staged a very successful production of A Widow’s Paradise in the Parish Centre on Saturday 1st December and Saturday 8th December. The production was a great success and a great credit to everyone involved both on and off the stage. Thanks yet again to the cast and production team for the countless hours of preparation, the staff and management of the Parish centre for their continued support in functions like this and to anyone who supported the production through attendance or sponsorship.

The top officials within the county descended on St Mary’s primary school on Sunday as the club hosted the 2012 county convention. This was a first for the club and after the smooth running of the event, perhaps it wont be the last. Big thanks must go to all who helped in any way in the rganising and running of the convention, thanks to Ellen Campbell who sang, Lisa Mulgrew the hall caretaker and of course the staff of the primary school for the use of the hall.

Our official history book ‘Celebrating 100 Years’ was officially launched at the club gala. A limited edition publication priced £15, it charts the formation of our club in 1912 to the successful community-centered club it is today. As well as providing a brief history of the club, it also celebrates the achievements of all aspects of the club, from senior, youth and ladies’ football to our participation in Scor. The book is now available to purchase in Daly’s Shop, Stewartstown Post Office, Sheehy’s Newsagent Cookstown, Begley’s Sports Dungannon, Ardboe Gift Shop. An excellent souvenir to mark the centenary of our club!

As ever, the club continue to be indebted to the many members of our main fundraising initiative, Club na Clairseacha. The set up at Mullaghmoyle is a testament to the generosity and hard work of our local community. This scheme is vital in the upkeep of the facilities and we would urge any member who is not a Club na Clairseacha member to please see any committee member and join the scheme. COALISLAND

U6, U8 and U10s winter training is Fridays at St Josephs College, 7-8pm, charge £1, all welcome!!! Directly after the younger ones train there is indoor training for U12s, U14s 8-9pm at the same venue, Cover charge £1, funds towards the hiring of the halls.

The advertising season for any field signage is now due. A member of the committee will be touch with the various businesses that kindly support the club in this fashion. Your support is invaluable.

A clothes bank is situated at the entrance of the field; to dispose of old/used clothing please use this as the Club gains financially for all collected here.
