More medals success forBiesty’s Centra Racing Team

Last weekend was the Irish Youth National Championships in Enniscorthy Co. Wexford.

In the U16 racing Ryan Orr got the bronze medal in Time Trial, and unfortunately was struck down with a stomach bug and was unable to ride the road race. Ciaran McFadden was the first Under 15 rider in the under 16 race. Ciaran was 8th overall in General classification for the two days.

Under 14 rider Robbie Doherty enjoyed the experience of his first Irish National champs, after being on a racing bike for only 4th months. This has been two big events in two weeks for the boys with the Ulster Youth Championships, last weekend in Donegal, and this weekend on Co. Wexford.

* Laverty is the BCC 10 mile TT Champion - On Wednesday evening in spite of mist and rain BCC Biesty’s Racing team held their annual 10 mile TT champions on the Ballybogey Rd, Priestland Rd Dunluce Rd course. On a difficult night it saw the introduction of another of the youth talents that Ballymoney CC are now helping to develop through their programme. 11 year old Arthur Taggart, in his first ever race event and under close supervision, rode the 10 mile time trial in 31 minutes. Stuart recently was crowned the Northern Ireland 25 time trial champion has now added the club championships to his success list, in a time of 21.59. Second was Mervyn Linton with 22.15 and 3rd went to Chris Surgeneor 24.09.

* This Saturday is a special day with three routes to choose from in the Dalriada Kingdom Challenge, starting

at Roseyards Church hall carpark, registration from 9am. On Sunday the now famous Dark Hedges Ulster Road Race championships will be again coming to Stranocum.

Passing through “The Park” and the Dark Hedges, this event starts at 11am.
