THE NIPA were in Clonmel for the fifth race of the season. The birds were liberated at 10.15am into a north-west wind and good visibility was reported.

A top result this week for the father / son partnership of Sammy & Alan. The first two pigeons are brother and sister from their top stock pair of Janssens.This pair are resposible for numerous winners. Both pigeon are previous winners. Close on their heels is the previous week’s winners, the Gilmore brothers.

Ballynure –1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th Rea & Magill. 1200,1195,1194,1189. A clean sweep of the prizes this week, yet again. 1st and 3rd birds are two-year-old hens raced on roundabout and obtained from Roy Irwin, Belfast. Both hens have won and are regularly in the prizes. Second bird is an Adrian Duggins and won as young bird, fourth bird won last week.

Carrick & Dist – 18/347. 1st, 2nd, 3rd D & J Armstrong & son 1212, 1207, 1193, 4th Mr & Mrs R. Reid 1187.

The Armstrongs are back on song and to prove it take the top three positions. Super flying on the hardest race of the season to date.

A top result this week for the Armstrongs, taking the top three positions in both clubs on a good flying day.

Larne & Dist HPS – 41/816. G, K & I Moxham make it a fabulous three wins in a trot on 1220, the winner Millbrae Star being the same dark hen that won two weeks ago from Roscrea. The sire being the dark cock that won the national from INFC Skibbereen when paired to the mother of their other national winner, you could say bred in the purple! The Moxham also take third on 1189 from another of their Ron Williamson pigeons. Second was ever consistent Marshall & Wilson with a Van Loon cock on 1196 which won as a yearling. These Van Loons of Wilbert’s are always there or thereabouts. Fourth to Beggs & Hall on 1188 with a double grand-daughter of the loft’s number one stock pair from pigeons bred by Andrew McAuley of Coleraine. Fifth to J& D McWhirter with a slatey hen on 1185 with R Mills & son sixth on 1185 with the same pigeon that was second club last week, 7th G, K & I Moxham 1181, 8th Baxter & Holden 1180.9, 9th G, K & I Moxham 1179, 10th S & W Gray 1177.941, 11th B McCammon 1177.928 ,12th Marshall & Wilson 1175.979.

The winner is a Janssen based chequer hen, 6th Open NIPA in the same race last year. She was bred by Conor McManus from two birds given to him by Willie and Leo. The second bird was sired by a Dickie Van Der Smyth Cock when paired to the NIPA Bird Of The Year. Her nestmate won the Shankill club a fortnight ago, this loft really is in top form. 3rd Gregg Bros & McCandless, Vel.1213.8 - Paul & Stephen time another one of their Frank Tasker / Ron Williamson crosses - 4th.
