Paul makes history with Ireland medal win
That’s the case ahead of this month’s IHL opener though as Paul Gleghorne helped Ireland to a EuroHockey bronze medal finish with the sweetest of victories over England last weekend.
The defender, who joined Garvey from Instonians at the end of last season, was part of an Ireland back-line that had their work cut out to help Ireland hold on in the closing stages of their 4-2 victory in the medal match.

After playing for Ireland up until 2008, Mark jumped ship and began his career with England in 2011.
That has so far yielded a Commonwealth Games bronze medal but, on this occasion, ended in defeat to brother Paul and his former team-mates.
“Thank you so much to everyone for the support over the last week,” tweeted Garvey’s Paul, originally from Antrim. “Honour to be a part of this team! #bronze #historymade”.
