Ruairi plays a glorious round on the Twelfth

THE Bank Holiday Golf Tournament on July 12 was well supported. The weather was glorious as befits the day that it was.

And the golf that was played by Ruairi Gillen was also something special. The 11 handicapper shot a nett 60, which converted to a winning total of 45 stableford points.

Gerry McBrien (20) has been threatening to shoot a winning score in recent competitions. He kept it all together this time and he took second place with 43 points.

Young Matthew Mallon (9) just seems to get better and better. He was third on the Twelfth with 42 points.

The not so young Eamon Galloway (18) won the senior prize with 42 points. That would have pleased him immensely.

Connor Mulholland (9) was unlucky not to be in the prizes after shooting 42 points.

Noel McSherry (11) and William Malcolm (11) also came very close with 41 points each.

And it was good to see Alan Dale (12) back to something like his true form with a score of 40 points.

The calculated standard scratch score was nett 66 or 39 stableford points. Alex Clarke (12), Declan Barry (9), Kerry McCluskey (12) and Shane Bell (7) equalled this score.

Finally, we have to congratulate Paul Magennis (4), the winner of the best gross prize with a very steady 72.
