Title race hots up in both Division One and Two

Potters A entertained the Forge and it was the visitors who played the better pool early on as they gave themselves a 6-4 lead after the first two sessions. Potters though showed their quality sotrming back to take the win 11-9. Man of the Match: Darryl Watt.

Mary Pats almost pulled off a big shock as they played host to the Sperrin. Trailing 10-5 they won the next three frames to close the gap to two and put the pressure on the visitors. Adam Watt stepped up for Sperring though to claim the crucial win in the next frame to seal the overall win. Man of the Match: Adam Watt.

Racks A kept up the pressure on the leaders with a comfortable 14-6 win over Bullseye A. Leading 11-4 after the first three sessions they needed only more for victory and star man Tommy Morrow duly obliged beating Paddy Lynch to secure victory.The biggest cheer of the night though came when Bullseye captain Steven ‘The Maverick’ Warwick beat Tommy. Man of the Match Steven Warwick.

Racks B also tasted victory and they just can’t stop winning at the minute. After a poor start to the season they have found their feet and on their day they are a match for any side. Man of the Match: Stefan Christie.

In Division Two there was a top of the table clash as Social Club entertained Potters B. The home side knew it was a must win game for them to close the gap at the top of the table. They got off to a flyer playing some good solid pool they raced into a 7-3 lead after two sessions. The league leaders fought back leaving the score 9-7 going into the final session.

Those last few frames were very edgy but Man of the Match Willie McMullan secured the vital win to not only secure victory for his side but also keep them in the hunt for the title.

Tigers Bar produced their best pool of the season to date beating the Village Tavern 16-4. There was nothing the Tavern could do with Man of the Match Daryl Stirling as he sealed the win with an eight-ball clearance.

Roost Bar and Bulls Eye Old Boys produced a real ding-dong affair which ended in controversial fashion. At 9-9 the bar closed so the last two frames were awarded to the away team, this is something the League Committee will look into.

The Grove Bar entertained Sperrin B in a bottom of the table clash. With no real pressure on Grove played some good solid pool. Trevor White rolled back the years playing his usual brand of tactical pool winning four out of four and earning the Man of the Match award too.

Credit must go to Sperrin who put up a good battling display.
