The 22-year-old had been set to cast his eye over teams on the pitch but instead saved the day by joining Ulidia Year 8 rugby team and Sixth Year Sport Studies class for a question and answer session.

The pupils got Gilroy’s take on what it’s like, and what it takes, to play at the highest level in sport.

He answered questions ranging from his favourite players, to what his academic plans would have been if rugby wasn’t his career.

All pupils and staff were very appreciative of Gilroy coming in during his busy schedule and thanked him for a very enjoyable and informative afternoon.
